Nuno Libano Monteiro explains that the increase in fines for litigating in bad faith is included in the new rules on legal costs.

PLMJ partner and head of the litigation practice and the restructuring and insolvency team, Nuno Libano Monteiro speaks to Dinheiro Vivo about the main changes in the application of judicial costs. He explains that, on the one hand, the objective is to make the justice system lighter and faster, taking the simplest cases or possible settlement out of the hands of judges. On the other hand, those who choose to litigate in bad faith will be penalised with higher fines.
