The possibility of acceptance of documents and visas relating to staying in Portugal that expired after 24 February 2020 has now been extended until 31 December 2022.
Decree-Law 42-A/2022 was published on 30 June 2022, to amend, among others, the measures applicable in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, as provided for in Decree-Law 10-A/2020 of March 13, notably with respect to the procedure for obtaining legal residence in Portugal, including the Residence Permit for Investment, known as the “Golden Visa”.
The possibility of acceptance of documents and visas relating to staying in Portugal that expired after 24 February 2020 has now been extended until 31 December 2022.
Thus, all residence permits that expired after 24 February 2020 remain valid in Portugal and they will still be accepted after 31 December 2022, provided that the holders of these documents can demonstrate that they have already made an appointment to renew their documents.
These rules are applicable to all legal residence permits in Portugal, including family reunification permits.
