PLMJ managing partner Bruno Ferreira has written an opinion article for the newspaper Expresso on how the pandemic has accelerated the importance of looking at ESG factors as something that is imperative for companies. In the article, "ESG: the strength of convictions", he says that, "in particular as far as governance issues are concerned, and besides benefiting compliance with existing legal rules, the ESG movement represents a useful requalification and an extraordinary reinforcement of what is a very significant part of the regulation established through comply or explain mechanisms".
PLMJ's managing partner also explains that "the greater commitment of the investors inherent to this movement, of their own volition, or because their customers demand it in the case of institutional investors, is going to change this reality. It will force companies to adopt a management model that is more in line with the market's most demanding expectations in terms of best practices".
