Tiago Cortes, a partner in the employment law practice area spoke to the newspaper Jornal de Negócios about reductions in salary made by agreement with employees and he points out that there are salary reduction agreements that are purely cosmetic and where the employees continue to work the same number of hours.
In the opinion of this employment law specialist, the Employment Code is explicit in its provision, among the guarantees for the employee, that the employer cannot reduce the employee’s pay.
