Luís Pais Antunes speaks to Diário Económico on changes to the Employment Law

Luís Pais Antunes, PLMJ partner and former secretary of state for employment, spoke to the newspaper Diário Económico about whether it is necessary to alter employment legislation to reduce the amount of compensation paid by companies to employees in the event of redundancy. This PLMJ employment law specialist believes it would not make sense to change the rule on compensation as this does not solve employment problems.

Luís Pais Antunes also pointed out that levels of social protection Portugal are falling considerably and, for this reason, a worker who is dismissed with a lower level of compensation will have even less protection when unemployed.
