Luís Sáragga Leal, one of PLMJ’s founding partners and also president of the firm’s administrative council, spoke to Diário Económico about expectation for 2010 in relation to the justice system in Portugal.
According to Luís, justice in Portugal is in a terrible state and when we lose confidence in justice, it is the state of democratic law itself that is called into question. He went on to give the example of the recent failure of the budget proposal presented by the president of the bar association and highlighted the fundamental role the association plays as an institution essential for the defence of liberties and as a guarantee for citizens ensuring the proper administration of justice.
