New associate Leonor Cagigal Jardim joins PLMJ’s banking, finance and capital markets practice

A new associate Leonor Cagigal Jardim has just joined PLMJ’s banking, finance and capital markets practice. This represents another important step in the continuing policy of growth in one of the firm’s core areas which has been called on to act in the most important financial operations in Portugal over the past year. Between 2010 and November 2012, Leonor worked as Legal Research Assistant in the Corporate Governance area at the University of Sidney, the institution where she completed an LL.M (in 2010) on comparative corporate governance, international M&As, finance law and capital markets, among others. In studying these topics, she had the opportunity to work alongside some of the leading international academic in these areas. At the law firms where she worked, Leonor gained experience in financial law and between 2004 and 2007 she attended two postgraduate courses in securities law and commercial companies law. The new PLMJ associate will work principally with Magda Viçoso, a partner in PLMJ’s capital markets practice. PLMJ’s banking and finance and capital markets practice is coordinated by partner Jorge Brito Pereira with the support of partners Magda Viçoso (capital markets) and Hugo Rosa Ferreira (banking) and includes a total of 11 lawyers. Over the past year this team has worked on a daily basis on the largest and most complex financial operations on which PLMJ has been instructed. These include the privatisations of EDP, REN, BPN and Cimpor among other financial transactions carried out through investment funds and the capital markets.
