PLMJ Foundation presents Pedro Calapez exhibition “Kickflip” from 27 April at the PLMJ Foundation in Lisbon.

The PLMJ Foundation presents the Pedro Calapez exhibition “Kickflip” which opens on 27 April at the PLMJ Foundation in Lisbon. This exhibition is part of the PLMJ Foundation’s OFF programme by Miguel Amado and featuring projects by artists from Portugal of from Portuguese-speaking countries.  In Kickflip”, Pedro Calapez evokes the sub-culture of radical urban sports like skateboarding, to analyse the links between form, colour and constructed space, as well as to speculate on the relationship of the power of images as representations of the world. The exhibition includes painting and sculpture with four pieces created for the exhibition and two other never before seen in Lisbon. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that includes an essay by Miguel Amado and reproductions of not only the works in the exhibition but also scenes of the studio to put Calapez’s work into context.
