PLMJ founding partner and president of the PLMJ Foundation, Luís Sáragga Leal, has joined the honorary committee of the First International Fair of Modern Art, ARCOlisboa 2016, which is taking place from 26 to 29 May Fábrica Nacional de Cordoaria.
The president of the honorary committee is the Minister of Culture, Luís Filipe Castro Mendes, and the committee includes a number of leading figures and institutions. They include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Lisbon Municipal Council, the Spanish Embassy, the Directorate General of Arts in Communication, Turismo de Portugal, o the Lisbon Iberian-American Capital of Culture 2017 Programme and RTP. The committee also includes the Berardo Collection Museum, the EDP Foundation, the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, the Serralves Museum, Culturgest and the Leal Rios Foundation.
ARCOlisboa, the first art fair under the ARCO brand to take place outside Spain, will bring more than 100 collectors and contemporary artist sto Lisbon. They include Joaquim Torres García, Juan Lusi Moraza, Julião Sarmento, Mario Merz, Dan Graham, Robert Barry, Lawrence Weiner, Joana Vasconcelos, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Maria Loboda, Felipe Arturo, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané e João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva.
The motto of the PLMJ Foundation is "A law firm as a space for culture" and it is one of Portugal's leading cultural institutions. The PLMJ Foundation supports art from Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries, and it organises exhibitions, publishing projects, and conferences, among others. The PLMJ Foundation collection includes a total of 1270 works of art including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and video.
