PLMJ supports the 1st Festival of Art promoted by the Inês de Castro Foundation with the organization of the exhibition” White Nights: Works from the PLMJ Foundation Art Collection “to be inaugurated next Saturday, the 18th of July, by 4pm at the Quinta das Lágrimas Hotel in Coimbra.

The exhibition is part of the” First Festival of Arts “a project promoted by the Inês de Castro Foundation in the renowned academic City of Coimbra under the theme “Night Transfiguration”.

"White Nights” is related with a natural phenomenon which is very common in the North of Europe, when the sun does not set completely leaving behind a special dreaming atmosphere.

This circumstance has been inspiring writers and movie makers along the last two centuries and has been molding this project as well.

The exhibition gathers therefore works from the PLMJ Foundation Collection Portuguese artists who have responded to this theme namely António Júlio Duarte, Edgar Martins, Joana Vasconcelos, João Louro and Nuno Cera.

Furthermore, materialized in various expressions of art, these works explore night” iconography” and “symbolism” through their creators eyes, thus contributing once again for a new moment of closeness between ”White Nights” and “Art”.
