Thelma Foundation is currently developing the largest private Portuguese collection devoted to art from the CPLP. The collection includes Mozambican artists and many artists from the other countries of the CPLP and has initially focused on young artists such as Yonamine, Celestino Mudaulane, Julia Keter, Mário Macilau and René Tavares, whose success in their own countries is now spreading to Portugal.
The pieces that have been acquired are characterised by a contemporary language, tackling both the local cultural reality and the global social order as well as including representations of other dominating factors in the western world.
The inauguration will take place on 24 November at 6 p.m. at the Lisbon Conference Centre in the Pavilhão do Rio and the exhibition will run until 28 November between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m.
