PLMJ and Católica Global School of Law begin the 1st edition of the Global Business Programme – a tailor-made training programme for PLMJ lawyers

24/02/2014
The first Global Business Programme, which is part of PLMJ’s internal training programme for 2014, begins this week. This is the first of a series of sessions organised under the cooperation agreement made in May 2013 between PLMJ and Católica Global School of Law – part of the law faculty of Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Lisboa (UCP). This programme is directed at PLMJ senior associates and partners and was developed to foster excellence in the services we provide by giving PLMJ’s leaders an in-depth and global vision of the challenges of the profession and of business in a global context. Over a 6-month period, PLMJ’s lawyers will benefit from a set of workshops on soft skills, as well as topic-based sessions on legal culture. These sessions will help participants to improve their behavioural capacities and to consolidate their knowledge of the most important international trends in key legal matters and in markets or sectors of activity with most impact on the day-to-day business of the legal profession. All the sessions will be presented by lecturers from Católica Global School of Law, including Nuno Garoupa, Matej Accetto and Jügen Kutz and they will be joined by Mihael Jeklic (who teaches negotiation and decision science at King's College, London).

For Luís Barreto Xavier, of Católica Global School of Law, “the organisation of the integrated internal training programme for a leading law firm like PLMJ is yet another way of adding value in a globalised legal and business world”.

PLMJ partner, Serena Cabrita Neto, believes “this type of investment in excellent programmes like this one is of crucial importance for a law firm that practices business law in an international environment. It makes it possible for us to build a toolkit that will enable us to ensure innovation in our services and a capacity to present creative solutions adapted to the world in which our clients operate”.
