PLMJ appoints four new partners

PLMJ has promoted four new partners.

For PLMJ managing partner, Luís Pais Antunes: "The decisions now taken by the firm reflect the recognition of the personal and professional qualities of PLMJ ‘s lawyers. The appointment of four new partners is also a clear affirmation of confidence in the PLMJ project and in the consistence and excellence of our capacities."

The excellence of the work they have been doing and their daily effort in terms of PLMJ’s positioning and reputation in Portugal and internationally have led the firm to make up the following lawyers to partner:

• Alexandra Mota Gomes, a member of the PLMJ Compliance, and Criminal and Administrative Litigation teams, who is recognised for her excellent work in criminal law and compliance.
• Carmen Baptista Rosa, based at PLMJ’s Faro office, is a member of the PLMJ Arbitration and Litigation teams. She is the first lawyer from PLMJ’s office in the Algarve to make partner.     
• João Velez de Lima, based at PLMJ’s Porto office, is a member of the PLMJ Tax team, is recognised in the market for his leadership in the international expansion projects of a number of Portuguese groups;
• Mariana França Gouveia, a member of the PLMJ Arbitration team, is a member of the roster of arbitrators of a number of arbitration centres in Portugal and abroad. She is also a leading academic.

The appointment of these new PLMJ partners is part of the firm’s strategy over more than 50 years of strengthening its position through a culture of organic growth. Through this strategy, it has built dynamic young teams with a focus on specialisation in all practice areas, which pride themselves on staying ahead of market and economic trends.

In a year when tourism and foreign investment are fuelling economic growth, not only in Lisbon, but also in Porto and the Algarve, the firm had recognised the merit and strategic importance of having highly specialised senior teams throughout the country.

In addition, by focusing on arbitration and compliance, the firm is consolidating its position in areas of the law that, today, are crucial to meeting the needs of legal directors and companies in any sector and any location.  

With these promotions, PLMJ has strengthened its position as Portugal’s largest law firm, with a total of 260 lawyers, including 61 partners, working in 10 countries.
