PLMJ lawyers Pedro Lomba, partner and head of the firm's Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice, and Carolina Ventura and Inês Cabugueira, associates in the same practice, have written an article for the book AI Act - O Novo Regulamento Europeu da Inteligência Artificial (AI Act - The New European Regulation on Artificial Intelligence), published by Almedina.
The publication provides a multidisciplinary analysis of a regulation that represents an unprecedented legislative milestone in the European Union: the new AI Act establishes harmonised rules to address the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing technology.
The article contributed by PLMJ's TMT specialists is entitled "Audits of AI systems in the AI Act: an introduction" and, among other things, it addresses the risks in its application, the protection of fundamental rights and the restrictions on certain artificial intelligence (AI) practices.
The book is coordinated by André Alfar Rodrigues, João Almeida and João Luz Soares.
