The newspaper Jornal I spoke to PLMJ’s commission on trainee lawyers, the body responsible for selecting and recruiting young lawyers, for an article that analyses the integration of young graduates into law firms.
Speaking to Jornal I Pedro Metello de Nápoles, a partner in PLMJ and president of the trainees’ commission, explained that “in terms of how demanding and tough they are, the requirements of the evaluation process have increased over the last few years”. The reason for this is that the choice of young lawyers to join PLMJ is also the choice of the firm’s future partners.
Maria Clara Pereira, the best student of Lisbon’s Universidade Católica with an average mark of 17/20, was also interviewed. After completing a summer internship at PLMJ in 2009, Pereira joined the firm in September of the same year. She explained that she had a number of job offers but chose PLMJ and her choice is a great source of pride for both the firm and the trainee’s commission.
