PLMJ leads again in M&A work in Portugal with €2.4 bn in deals

For the third consecutive year, PLMJ is the leading M&A firm in Portugal.

In the Transactional Track Record (TTR) ranking, the firm led by a wide margin in M&A transactions in 2022, based on deal value. It also ranked 4th in terms of number of transactions.

In the TTR report, which analyses M&A activity in the Iberian Peninsula in 2022, PLMJ leads the ranking of Portuguese legal advisers, having handled transactions worth €2.4 billion and completed 27 non-confidential transactions.

In the individual Dealmakers rankings, Duarte Schmidt Lino, partner and co-head of the firm's Corporate M&A practice, again topped the list of lawyers responsible for advising on transactions in Portugal with €1.2bn.
Diogo Perestrelo, partner and co-head of Corporate M&A, is also among the top five most active lawyers.

There are five PLMJ lawyers in the top 10 of TTR's Rising Stars in M&A: Rita Pereira Jardim, Ânia Cruz, Tomás Almeida Ribeiro, Manuel Sequeira and Rita Vilas Curto. The list also includes senior associate Ânia Cruz, who is ranked second.
In the Private Equity and Venture Capital table, PLMJ also leads the ranking in terms of deal value, with €1.7 billion, representing 54% of the deals published in the market.

PLMJ lawyers are once again in the spotlight in the Private Equity Dealmakers table, with Diogo Perestrelo and Duarte Schmidt Lino in the top three.

Eight of the firm's lawyers appear in the top 10 of the Private Equity Rising Stars list: Rita Pereira Jardim, Ânia Cruz, Tomás Almeida Ribeiro, Manuel Sequeira and Rita Vilas Curto, Raquel Moutinho, Rita Braga Themido and Vasco Granate.
