PLMJ organises cycle of training on the reform of the Civil Procedure Code from A to Z. Specialists from the PLMJ litigation team analyse the main changes

The recently approved reform of the Civil Procedure Code (CPC) will be subject to an in-depth analysis by the specialists of the PLMJ litigation team coordinated by partner Nuno Líbano Monteiro. The firm’s litigation team, which is made up of around 80 lawyers, has planned a cycle of training exclusively dedicated to the reform of the Civil Procedure Code, with the objective of providing lawyers with in-depth knowledge of both the theory and the practice of the new code and the implications of the main changes introduced by the legislator. The opening of this cycle of training will see the presentation of a “General outline of the reform” and the specific question of the CPC “The grounds for appeal: how to structure them in the light of the reforms”. The session features the participation of José Miguel Júdice, PLMJ founding partner and coordinator of the arbitration team.

The cycle of training: The Reform of the Civil Procedure Code from A to Z, is designed to address the main changes that have been approved, in particular, the principles of civil procedure, the judgment, the appeal, the enforcement process and the procedural costs, among others, which should come into force in the final quarter of the year. The topics will be presented and analysed by the specialists PLMJ litigation team, the largest litigation team in the country, with more than 45 years’ accumulated experience in complex and demanding civil and commercial litigation cases and vast experience in dealing with the Portuguese courts in a day-today basis.

With this highly focussed and specialised training programme, with 8 sessions planned for the months of June and July, the PLMJ lawyers from the litigation, public law and employment practices (who deal with the CPC on the most regular basis), will have the chance to prepare their response the effect the new changes will have on cases that are currently before the courts in advance.

These training sessions will be open to legal directors or in-house lawyers from companies that are clients of PLMJ, who want to be prepared to deal with the changes and be fully up to speed in the fundamental changes introduced by the new code.
