PLMJ has had two new associates of the team headed by Diogo Perestrelo: Ânia Ferreira Cruz and Rita Braga Themido.
PLMJ Corporate M&A now has a total of 49 lawyers who have unmatched experience in mergers and acquisitions and the sectors of energy, transport and infrastructures, tourism, distribution and aviation. All of them have in-depth knowledge of the areas of M&A, venture capital and management of large-scale matters, in both the Portuguese and international markets.
Ânia Ferreira Cruz began her career at Linklaters where she focused on M&A, privatisations, restructuring and project finance. She also worked at Novo Banco on asset disposal operations, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets and financial products operations.
Rita Braga Themido comes to PLMJ from Uria Menendez – Proença de Carvalho, where she specialised in the areas of banking, insurance, and corporate and M&A.
According to Diogo Perestrelo "these two hirings reflect PLMJ's focus on Corporate/M&A with a multidisciplinary team that has achieved a position of leadership in providing legal advice on major Portuguese and cross-border deals".
Strengthening PLMJ's response capacity is a goal of every area of the firm. This goal is pursued through organic growth, complemented by a policy of lateral hirings of highly specialised, leading professionals, and by building teams with a strong domestic and international track-record.
The PLMJ Corporate M&A team is to be found at the top of the rankings of the best-respected international legal directories, including Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500, both of which rank the firm in Tier 1. The team was also recently recognised by TTR (Transactional Track Record) in its 2017 rankings. TTR named PLMJ as the Portuguese leader in M&A and Private Equity, not only in the number of lawyers recognised, but also the number of deals
