PLMJ is pleased to announce the hiring of a new consultant to strengthen its German Desk. This team provides legal support to Portuguese companies operating in the German market and Central and Eastern Europe and to companies from these countries that invest in Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries. German lawyer Vicente Voigt de Oliveira has 20 years’ experience in the legal profession and, over recent years, has worked at a number of the best German law firms where he gained extensive experience in the workings and requirements of the specifics and demands of today’s legal market. He has experience in giving legal advice in areas as varied as construction, real estate, litigation, privatisations, commercial law, PPPs, international transactions and arbitration, among others. PLMJ’s new consultant also has a period as an intern at the Berlin Supreme Court.
With a law degree from Berlin Free University, Vicente Voigt de Oliveira holds joint Portuguese/German nationality, which will be an added bonus to the PLMJ team in which in depth knowledge of the different markets is a priority.
Coordinated by PLMJ partner Vasco Ataíde Marques, the German Desk is part of the firm’s corporate and M&A practice and is made up of five lawyers with know-how and experience in German-speaking markets and in Eastern Europe. The lawyers are fluent in German and Portuguese and are fully prepared to provide to provide legal support for companies from Germany and from central and Central and Eastern Europe, whether in Portugal or in the countries where PLMJ acts such as Angola, Mozambique, Brazil, Macau and China, through PLMJ International legal Network, offering high quality German-language legal services across the different legal systems. The considerable increase in the need for legal advice by Portuguese companies operating in the German market and in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and in companies from these countries investing in Portugal has resulted in a growing demand for legal support in preparing contracts, in the routine activities of companies, in performing obligations and in debt recovery.
Whenever necessary, this support includes support from other practice areas of the firm, whether at its Portuguese offices in Lisbon, Oporto and Faro, or at the partners who make up PLMJ International Legal Network, in Angola, Mozambique, Brazil, Macao and China. PLMJ also maintains relations with law firms in Germany and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which enable it to provide support to Portuguese companies that operate in these markets.
