As part of the PLMJ trip to China and Macau, to strengthen the partnerships with local offices and to promote business opportunities between China, Portugal and the other countries of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese-speaking countries, PLMJ founding partner Luís Sáragga Leal, was welcomed by the Forum for Economic and Commercial between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries based in Macau. This Forum was founded in 2003 and since then it has organised and supported commercial relations between its member countries. As a result of its activities, there has been a growth in trade as well as expansion to a number of sectors such as tourism, aviation, health, technology and culture. The PLMJ team of managing partner, Luís Sáragga Leal and international relations manger Rita Sáragga Leal, was received in Macau by the general secretary of the Forum, Rita Santos. The choice of Macau as the base for this Forum was significant as this is the place that can best make the connection between the members who are represented on this cooperation platform, on the one hand because of the cultural and linguistic ties it has with the Portuguese speaking countries and, on the other hand because of the cultural, linguistic and geographical ties it has with China. For these reasons it is a perfect hub to boost trade relations. For now, the Forum is putting into practice its action plan that covers the period to 2013 and includes inter-government cooperation in a wide range of areas from agriculture to education and human resources, and also including finance and culture.
