In recent years, companies have been increasingly concerned with their cash management and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has made this an even greater concern. In today's Portuguese language PLMJ podcast we talk about legal finance, a business model that seeks to transform contingent assets into assets with a positive impact on companies' balance sheets. For this reason, it is an increasingly sought-after alternative to avoid the now real risk of a difficult economic situation or even insolvency. But let us start at the beginning. What are these legal finance mechanisms, what are they used for, what are the main instruments available, what is the role of financiers and lawyers, and to what extent can this be an opportunity for all companies, and not only for those in difficulties? These are questions that today's guests address for us. Joining us from Lima, Peru, is Narghis Torres, CEO and founder of LexFinance, a global asset manager focused exclusively on transforming legal risks into liquidity, both in Latin America and Europe. From PLMJ, we have Joaquim Sherman de Macedo, partner and co-head of the Dispute Resolution practice, and Duarte Schmidt Lino, partner and co-head of the Corporate M&A practice. Also from PLMJ we have with us António Júdice Moreira, a lawyer from the Dispute Resolution practice.
