Associate in the EU and Competition Law practice.
Julia is an associate in the European and Competition Law practice, where she advises Portuguese and international clients on regulatory and competition issues, from merger control to administrative proceedings and internal audits. She has focused on the financial market, advising financial institutions and fintechs on regulatory issues.
Julia holds a law degree from the University of Brasilia, postgraduate degrees in Business and Corporate Law and in Economic Law and Competition Defence, both from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV Brazil), and is currently completing a master's degree in Law and Financial Markets at Nova School of Law in Lisbon.
Prior to joining PLMJ, she was a Master's researcher for TRACE, a European project funded by the European Commission to develop artificial intelligence solutions to combat financial crime. She focused on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing in the European Union.
She has also worked as an associate at the law firm FAS Advogados in cooperation with CMS (Brazil) and as a legal adviser to the President of the Administrative Council for Economic Defence (CADE).
